How long have you been with New Day?
Since 1999. I started as a youth care specialist in therapeutic group homes, then became a program manager of a male unit in Billings, and a program coordinator of a female unit on the Fort Belknap Reservation. I was a teacher for the youth in our education program for a while, and I taught our non-violent crisis intervention programs to employees. I now teach CPR and first aid to the New Day staff. I also oversee the company’s quality improvement program.

Describe your job at New Day:
I work with state accreditation and administrative entities to ensure best practices and requirements are met.

What is unique about your job?
I get to work with and train a variety of people, ensuring our clients and their families are receiving the best possible services.

What do you like most about your job?
Watching New Day grow, expand, and improve. When I first started, we had just one program and two facilities. Now, we have multiple programs and campuses offering a variety of services to help adolescents, adults, and their families with mental health and substance abuse issues. The success stories from this are what I like the most.

What do you like least about your job?
Things like state budget cuts that alter our plans. We always seem to persevere through these challenges, but it does take a lot to jump those hurdles.

How long have you been with New Day?
Working on my tenth year.

Describe your job at New Day:
My job is to help all children be academically successful during their stay at New Day. We try to help children with their emotional needs first, and in turn their academic needs follow.

What do you like most about your job?
Meeting all types of kids and knowing that we’re just a stepping stone before most can go back to their homes. It’s great to see parents and kids loving each other, and I know New Day was a part of that process.

What do you like least about your job?
We develop relationships with kids who go through the program. Some kids are happy to leave because they are ready, but yet they’re sad because they have learned that they will miss us, as well. Kind of a double-edged sword
